DRIES VAN NOTEN – FROM ANTWERP WITH LOVE

In a testimony of how often the best things are actually close by and familiar, for the first time Dries Van Noten tributes his hometown Antwerp in a collection, channeling its vibrancy and melting-pot vibe. Inspired by the many facets of the bustling Belgian city, from the picture-perfect squares to the crane-dotted port, from its modern architecture countered by ornate cathedrals, the designer liberally mixed dapper tailoring with a relaxed, off-kilter ease that underscored diversity. The cranes and V-shaped stripes provide eye-catching imagery on camp shirts, camouflage prints wash over bomber jackets and bottoms are fluid with a workwear feel, often punched up with lively prints. As one of the original Antwerp Six, the influential group of avant-garde Belgian designers, Van Noten always knows how to reinvent himself.
