Since his inception in 2010, Australian designer Christopher Esber has built a global reputation with his elegant minimalism based on precision tailoring and a purity of expression interpreted through a structured fluidity that whispers rather than shouts.
Esber exploits his background in tailoring, incorporating typical men’s wear techniques into each piece with a sophisticated and contemporary boy-meets-girl approach. "Looking back at our first collection it still feels relevant and we continue to work with the fundamental elements from that very first collection; tailoring, shirting, embellishment and leather,” said Esber, who in 2017 presented during New York Fashion Week for the first time. Luxurious yet easy, the collections are infused with a subtle street sensibility featuring relaxed tailoring, raw accents, and sports inspired finishes that radiate a quiet confidence. “I design for a woman who loves fashion, but she is not willing to surrender herself to it,” says Esber. “Coming from Australia there is a sense of ease and the undone about what I do. Even if something is more conceptual, there is always a feel of release to it.”
The many prizes earned by the award-winning designer include Vogue Italia’s Most Talented Designer Award for Australia-Pacific, the International Woolmark Prize, the Emerging Designer category of the Australian Fashion Laureate Award.
