VIRGIL ABLOH'S FIRST MEN'S CAMPAIGN FOR LOUIS VUITTON

The first Louis Vuitton men’s ad campaign by Virgil Abloh spotlights new talent and the values of his debut collection as the house’s artistic director, shown in June in Paris at the Palais-Royal Garden. Since the campaign is articulated in three phases, the different set of images were shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, by Algerian multimedia artist Mohamed Bourouissa and by Dutch photographer Raimond Wouda. More than on the product, Abloh said he wanted to focus on boyhood and the different phases in a man’s life, from infancy to adult. The first batch to release was on the early stages of life and stars three-year-old Anyieth; child actor Leo James Davis, 7, who played a transgender child opposite Claire Danes in “A Kid Like Jake”; and 16-year-old Luke Prael, who appears in the horror film “Boarding School.” Set for February, the second part homages a painting by Gustave Courbet while the third, scheduled to release in March, shows students sporting the lively T-shirts that Abloh gave his guests at his debut show.
