Ballroom on Mars. Now, doesn’t that title conjure images of an impossibly faraway escapism into the unknown? And that is just what The Attico’s Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio wanted to channel with their new Spring Summer collection and imagery, infused with a slightly dystopian feel. But since Mars is still off-limits, even for the super-powerful of the world, the duo landed on the sun-soaked volcanic island of Lanzarote, where against the dark jagged rock formations, the clothes stand out in all their sexy, lively, and powerful glory.; As Tordini and Ambrosio put it, the feel is an imaginative springboard to envision a joyous and energetic evolution of their woman, who always keeps an upbeat outlook on life, this season clad in loose volumes, in the geometric flow of handkerchief hems, in the sleek tailoring that bypasses lapels, and in the tucks that mold shirts to the body. A signature sprinkle of frivolity shines through with a smattering of feathers, sequins, embroideries, and crocheted inserts. Call it a feisty vision of post-apocalyptic glamor imagined for ballrooms on the sand, or Mars.
