“Designers want me to dress like Spring, in billowing things. I don't feel like Spring. I feel like a warm red Autumn”. Thus mused Marilyn Monroe in one of her many famous quotes, inspiring the first Pre-Fall collection by Alessandra Rich, described as an “immersion in red power”. The Alessandra Rich woman is no wallflower, not the kind that can be put in a corner. Conversely, she steps into the limelight effortlessly, indulging in a collection charged with rich colors such as cyclamen pink, deep red, and dark green that unabashedly and harmoniously flirts with contrasts: camouflage undertones collide with the elegance of horse riding; prim gabardine is matched to soft knits embellished with a Milky Way of crystals; sharp military-style jackets and oversize cardigans are tossed over shrunken knits, bralettes, or bustiers. Similarly, delicate prints featuring small flowers, roses, and hearts are disrupted by black vinyl, stretch net, and dark silver tweed. With her ability to counterweight sophisticated and preppy with sexy and bold, the designer further reveals her mastery in playing with contrasts to mesmerizing effect.
