IN THE SPOTLIGHT: SACAI, A MODERN SELF-CONFIDENCE

Sacai’s Chitose Abe went back to her tailoring-cum-haute-couture roots for FW 2022-23 delivering a collection rendered with sculptural silhouettes, signature hybrid constructions and inventive manipulations. Abe used her tailoring expertise to fuse innerwear with outerwear, a concept perfectly executed in her blazers, anoraks, and faux shearling jackets that define a new silhouette, at once unique and typical. Similarly, her “hybrid” combination of a wool jacket on the top and a long puffer bottom becomes a true hero piece that embraces sporty formality. Skirt lovers, instead, will get a kick out of the asymmetrical designs, a juxtaposition of long and lean on one side, and short and frisky on the other. For men, silhouettes are loose to allow freedom of movement, primarily comprised of colorful checked knits, blouson jackets, and varsity styles.
