PHARRELL WILLIAMS FRONTS CHANEL CAMPAIGN

It’s no secret that Pharrell Williams is a big Chanel fan. And now further sealing that mutual affinity, the high-profile music impresario is the first man to appear in a handbag campaign for the French house, according to an exclusive story that appeared in WWD. As part of the friendship between the singer and Karl Lagerfeld, Williams has appeared in a short film for Chanel and walked the runway in its most recent Métiers d’Art show at the Ritz Paris. In the ads, Williams is immortalized in a concert hall sporting a crocodile version of the new Gabrielle bag, further underlining its multi-occasion versatility. Working the set with Williams are Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne and Caroline de Maigret, each oozing a different allure, from insouciant to street bound to quintessentially Parisian. Always according to WWD, when “Williams starred in a Lagerfeld-directed film for the Paris-Salzburg collection in 2014, he learned that the original inspiration for Chanel’s famous contrast-trim, four-pocket jacket was one worn by the lift operator of that Austrian city’s exclusive Mittersill hotel.”
