TOM SACHS ART DISPLAY IN KOREA

Set on creating an immersive experience, Tom Sachs has taken Korea by storm with three simultaneous exhibitions hinged on the American artist’s affinity for space, music, Western consumer culture, and the budding metaverse world. Throughout, he uses pop culture icons such as NASA, the Simpsons, Budweiser and Yoda. The first one, called Tom Sachs: Rocket Factory Paintings, is displayed at;Thaddaeus Ropac;Seoul, and embraces the world of NFTs while Tom Sachs: Boombox Retrospective, held at a museum inside the headquarters of boy band BTS, underscores the artist’s lifelong fascination with boomboxes in all shapes and sizes, interpreted with the bricolage technique. Lastly at the;Art Sonje Center,;Tom Sachs Space Program: Indoctrination;presents the artist’s fascination with American DYI sensibility, highlighting overconsumption and people’s mania for instant gratification.
