ARTIST CAI GUO-QIANG AND SAINT LAURENT’S FIREWORKS SPECTACLE

Saint Laurent Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello commissioned the first daytime firework show in Japan masterminded by acclaimed contemporary Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang. Entitled “When The Sky Blooms in Sakura,” the spectacle of thousands of fireworks was held along the coastline in Iwaki, Fukushima, and is part of the “Ramble in the Cosmos” exhibition. The pyrotechnic artwork explores the relationship between humanity, other living beings in nature, and the global environment. It aspires to bolster the resilient human spirit in the face of global adversity, conveying a message of hope and renaissance.
