ADIDAS ORIGINALS AND CRAIG GREEN

First revealed on Craig Green’s SS 2020 catwalk during London Fashion Week, the first-ever collaborative sneakers by the British designer and adidas Originals have now hit store shelves globally. Capturing the design ingenuity and freedom to experiment that is at the heart of both brands, the first drop is hinged on two new styles - the CG Kontuur I in black and navy and the CG Kontuur II in black and grey. Both are radical remakes of two Adidas classics, the Kamada and Ozweego. Among Green’s key concepts was the desire to replicate the sole on the upper of the sneakers so the perforated front of the CG Kontuur I looks like it was punctured by its Kamada sole while the deep-quilted stitch lines on the CG Kontuur II echo the Ozweego sole. “Footwear is like a sculpture,” says Craig Green. “There’s so much you can do with sneakers that you can’t do with clothing. It’s exciting to think of all we can create in this collaborative project with adidas Originals,”. Both silhouettes embody the common design principles of both adidas Originals and Craig Green - to create innovative new forms that marry functionality with a desire to experiment through design.
