BLAZER MID X READYMADE

45 years since its debut, the Blazer continues its buzzy evolution, and the latest iteration by Japanese designer Yuta Hosokawa of the READYMADE label is certainly something out of the ordinary. Manipulated and distorted, its features a DIY-inspired aesthetic that retains the style's core DNA while adding a raw, handcrafted feel to its timeless silhouette.
The upper pays homage to READYMADE's penchant for using second-hand materials while camouflage-inspired graphics and exposed foam add a fresh twist on the collar and tongue. The revisited Swoosh nods to an OG version of the logo from 1971. Parts of the shoes are made with materials originating from Nike’s manufacturing scrap and worn-out sneakers that would otherwise enter the waste stream.
“We deconstructed the Blazer and recreated it without losing sight of its DNA,” said Yuta Hosokawa, chief designer of READYMADE. “I have been playing basketball since I was in third grade. The first pair of shoes I bought for myself were Nikes. That’s how I came to like fashion.” Our raffle is now live, ending on Feb. 26 at 4:00 pm. Releasing on Feb. 27.
